Milk defeciency in feeding mothers

Lack of milk may exist even in an early period after delivery, and yet have been deleted. This, however, was not through the means too often resorted to; for them is the custom with many, two or three weeks after their imprisonment, if the supply of food for babies is not enough, to share the greatness of malt liquor for its increase. Sooner or later is found in the construction of the ill mother: but how, then, is the lack obviated? Let the nurse but keep in good health, and gained this point, the milk, the same as the quantity and quality, will be as hard, nutritious, and well, as can be done by individuals.

I would recommend a plain, kindly, and nutritious food; not a description of food exclusively, but, as is natural, a body, together, animals, plants and food, with or without wine or malt liquor, according in dating behavior and, Occasionally, where malt liquor has not been previously taken, a pint of good ale sound may be taken daily with advantage, if it agrees to the stomach. Regular exercise in the open air is the most importance, because it is an extraordinary influence on promoting the healthy secretion of milk. Early departure after lying in the room, carriage exercise, where it is available, is preferred, to change, a week or so, for horse exercise, or the daily walk. The lukewarm, or cold salt water showers, should be used each morning; but if it can not be borne, sponging the body with salt-water should be substituted.

By adopting the sacrifice of the foregoing plans, a breast milk is already adequate in number, and good quality, as the constitution of the parents are fertile, as the following case proves:

I attended a lady twenty-four years of age, a weak, but healthy woman, in his first imprisonment. The labor is good. Each things went well for the first week, except that, even if the breasts become enlarged, and promised a good supply of nourishment for infants, and its close there are only a small oozing from the nipple . During the next fortnight a slight, but very gradual increase in quantity took place, so that a dessert spoon will only get about in the middle of this time, and probably double this in its expiration volume. In the mean time the child is required to mamadol in an artificial food, and as a result of the offense has been broken, and diarrhea followed by a storm.

For three or four days is a question whether the small one is live, so for the excess is reduced to freedom of emotion is not in power grasp the nipple of his nurse; the milk, however, are obliged to protracted, and the child mamadol to them from a spoon. After a lapse of several days, however, it is available on breast-milk for itself; and, to make brief cases during the same month, the mother and child back home, the former having a fair part of healthy breast milk to her, and the child completely recovered quickly and clearly thriving on it.

Where, however, has an early lack of food supply, it is most often happen that, before the sixth or seventh month, the baby of the demands are greater than the mother is attainable. The shortfall must be made up of artificial food, which should be of a type generally work before six months, and provided with a bottle.
